One of the many cool things about my trip to Lagos was getting a chance to explore the fashion scene. Lagosians know how to bring the glamour! The ladies of Lagos are super groomed and well put together, no room for shabby chic here.
My trip coincided with Lagos Fashion & Design Week
and I managed to nab a press pass. The event occurred across four days but due to tight scheduling I was only able to attend opening night. It all kicked off with the Serengeti exhibition which I absolutely loved. It was a great opportunity to get some face time with some of Nigeria's finest creatives and retailers. Everyone was so lovely and enthusiastic about their brands!
I'm having a real love in with accessories at the moment so I was drawn to the ladies at Designforlove
. They had these amazing heavily embellished statement clutches. Fab for lifting a simple outfit ahead of the party season. I want! Me and my sis were also crushing on the studded box bags by DOT
, the hexagonal snake skin shoulder bags are also very moreish. Madame Coquette
also had some great leather clutches that could easily take you from day to night. I love the leopard print ponyskin clutch in orange, great for a night out!

The jewellery on show was also really impressive. The selection of gold plated pieces from Pot of Gold
were just gorgeous. Their crystal drop earrings are so me and I really wish I had got them on the day. My attempt to hunt down their store later in the week was fruitless, so I am suffering with shoppers regret.
My great find of the day had to be Emisara
, LOVE this jewellery brand! This was their first time showing at LFDW and they brought it! The statement bibs embellished with semi precious stones are so high fashion and the ankara ones are too cute. My wardrobe needs one of these!

After the exhibition, the runway shows were due to start at 5pm. After 2 hours of hanging around, my patience had worn thin and the 'Nigerian time' excuse is not one I was willing to indulge so I left without seeing a single collection make it down the runway. To say I was disappointed and frustrated is an understatement!
Later in the week I visited super cool boutiques L'Espace
and April by Kunbi
who were also showing at the exhibition. April by Kunbi in Lekki Phase 1 is the cutest little space, with a great jewellery selection. I picked up quite a few pieces that I've already rocked about town to great compliments. The beaded knot necklace looks great with my plain jersey pieces and the extra long earrings make my updo rock.
L'Espace is much bigger, and carries a lot of the big players in Nigerian fashion. I spied London based Virgos Lounge in store! I picked up a stunning House of Nwocha
dress that is very Missoni! It's going to be my party dress for this season and with so many fun colours it'll carry through to summer.

So that was my fashion adventure in Lagos and I'm hungry for more! There were so many other boutiques like TempleMuse and Rofhaus that I would love to hit up next time. You can access more information on the designers mentioned here by heading to The Directory and clicking through to their websites!
