Last week I had the pleasure of attending the Pop-Up Britain's Victoria store launch party where five different brands showcased their wares including one of my fave online boutiques Sapelle. It was a great opportunity to actually get my hands on items I'd only ever seen online. The summer collection from Sapelle is a wonderfully curated explosion of prints from the creme de la creme of African designers including Modahnik, Thula Sindi and Taibo Bacar.

|Beautiful summer dresses, don't you agree?|
The selection of jewellery and accessories available is also pretty impressive. I've personally been making attempts to adopt a more ethical approach to my consumerism so I was pleased with the range of recycled paper jewellery. There are a lot more solid and weighty than you would expect and more importantly they are really pretty. For those of you who are enamoured with all things peplum, the Afromania peplum belts are also available in a multitude of prints.

It looks like it's going to be a very exciting summer for Sapelle as owner Daphne Kasambala let it be known that this is the first of a series of pop ups to come. I'll do my best to keep you updated on all the latest goings ons from the Sapelle camp.
Another brand that caught my eye at the event were Rain-Wave, who have come up with a practical AND stylish solution to the rain problem that plagues this soggy island. Their range of packaway 100% waterproof rain ponchos are great for throwing over an outfit when the weather turns. With festival season just round the corner, I can see these popping up everywhere so get in there first!

The pop up space which is a 5 minute walk from Victoria station will be open till the end of this week, so head on down before it's too late.
