I'm in the middle of a major beauty overhaul. I've already switched up my skincare routine, now it's time to change things up with the old afro. After reading great things online, I decided to try the Big Hair Beauty range. The range is designed for 'curly, kinky and multi textured hair' and is made with predominantly natural ingredients. I tried out the SLS Free Shampoo and the Deep Conditioning Hair Treatment. My hair type is 4B/C and is prone to extreme dryness.
Soft Clean SLS Free Shampoo with Aloe Vera & Shea Butter £9.95
PROS: The packaging is really cute and the shampoo has a gorgeous fresh zesty scent. Despite having gone two weeks between wash days, I found that one wash was enough to get rid of build up and cleanse my curls. The shampoo is kind to kinks as I didn't feel the urge to load up on conditioner straight after washing. My curls were clumping and holding shape post wash.
CONS: The packaging says the products contain 'friendly foaming agents' but I was unable to get much of a lather going. I've been using SLS free products for a long time so I don't expect suds from my shampoos so this isn't really an issue for me.
Final Thoughts: I'm definitely going to keep using this shampoo. It cleanses my hair without drying it out and I love that 99% of the ingredients are natural.
Deep Conditioning Hair Treatment with Banana, Honey & Moroccan Rhassoul Clay £14.95
PROS: This smells so good, like fresh chocolate mousse. The whipped texture means its easy to apply and not overly messy. I used this post wash and let it sit for 40 minutes under a shower cap. My curls had great definition and were nice and glossy. Most importantly, it had softened my hair which made styling post wash a lot easier.
CONS: I do not have a single con. It did exactly what I expected it to and I couldn't be happier.
Final Thoughts: This is a big win for me. I usually end up spending quite a bit on hair masks and this does the job without breaking the bank. I would definitely buy again.
