If you follow me on the old social media, you'll know I spent July guest blogging for The Afro Hair & Skin Co. The experience was great and you can find all my fun filled beauty posts here. As part of the collaboration I was gifted the 3 piece range which I've been using for the last couple of months so it is most definitely time to drop a review.
FLOW: Perfectly Balanced Facial Oil £19.50
As you know, I'm a huge fan of oils and I've dabbled with quite a few different blends. This one is by far the most complex and nutrient rich. I love that the majority of the ingredients are locally sourced and naturally derived. I've been using this oil at least once a day either blended in with my day cream or layered underneath. It's not greasy at all and it leaves my skin feeling oh so soft.
I have combination skin so while it calms my oily t -zones, it's not rich enough for my dry areas so I wouldn't use it solo. I think the benefits of the oil are felt best when used as part of your nighttime routine. I've been inconsistent but the times I did get my act together, I woke up glowing. I think it's good value compared to other facial oils on the market and 50ml goes a long way.
FLOURISH: Totally Nourishing Hair Butter £18.50
Do you have hair butter fatigue? I get it. There are so many hair butters on the market that it's easy to wonder what anyone else can bring to the table. FLOURISH sets itself apart because it is not your standard Shea butter mix. The ingredient list reads like a 3 star Michelin restaurant menu. We have Walnut butter to start with Almond wax, Poppy Flower seed oil, Organic Pumpkin Seed oil, Rosemary... the list goes on.
In real terms, what you are left with is a very rich butter that smells like money. You know that luxurious smell that high end spas and Liberty have, it is in this jar of goodness. I have been using this every wash day and my hair loves it. It is very rich so I use it sparingly on my ends and massage it into my scalp. It absorbs into my hair quickly and keeps moisture locked in for ages. If you struggle with dry hair, then this will set you right.
BLOOM: Omega Healthy Hair Oil £22
I saved the best till last. I'm biased because hair oils are my vice but seriously I love this oil. In keeping with the other products in this range, the ingredient list is just banging. I'd never heard of Thistle oil or Crambe Seed oil before and now I'm their biggest fan. With other hair oils, I have had to use them with leave-in conditioners to get optimum results. With BLOOM, I haven't felt the need to.
I have been using this for around 8 weeks and I've noticed that my hair has improved with time. I wish I had the foresight to take before pics but trust me when I say the difference is clear. It has more shine, my curls are more springy and most importantly I'm less prone to tangles. I have also noticed that my hair stays stretched for longer. A solid 10/10 for me.
