Chicago based designer Kahindo Mateene of Modahnik has teamed up with non-profit organisation MamAfrica to launch a Kickstarter campaign that endeavours to raise $20,000 in 24 days. Funds from the campaign will be used by MamAfrica to provide healing arts programs, education and economic opportunity to women in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
Kahindo has worked together with the 'Mamas' of MamAfrica to create beautiful and unique clutches that could be yours if you pledge just $40 to the campaign. The clutches have been made using scrap materials from Modahnik's previous collections. The more you pledge the greater the reward, there are also two dresses from the Modahnik SS14 collection up for grabs as well as the opportunity to spend a day with Kahindo where she will share with you her Project Runway experience.
As with all Kickstarter campaigns, it's all or nothing. You have till the 16th February to pledge your support and help them reach their goal. You can do just that by following this link https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/742573202/mamafrica-clutches-by-modahnik. Empower an African woman and get a beautiful clutch. It's a win win!
