It feels weird writing this post while I'm dealing with underboob sweat but despite this unprecedented September heat, winter is coming. I have always preferred my winter wardrobe to my summer one so I have been looking forward to pulling together my AW16 capsule wardrobe.
My capsule wardrobe served me incredibly well over summer. Despite having an incredibly thin closet, I was putting together some serious lewks. I was worried about developing a 'uniform' but that hasn't been the case. If anything I'm wearing more of my wardrobe, mixing and matching and being more creative than ever. The only downside, skip laundry day and you will be left with nothing but your PJs.
Getting Winter Ready
I pulled together my winter capsule using the same method I did to create my summer one. It is a lot thinner than my summer wardrobe and while I will be carrying over certain summer pieces, I am definitely going to have to do some shopping to complete my capsule.
My winter wardrobe is overwhelmingly black with touches of grey and burnt orange. I want to play up the orange colour so I will be looking out for pieces in similar tones and maybe add a little burgundy to the mix.
I'm also going to be needing some practical winter accessories as while I want to look my best, I don't want to lose a toe doing so.
My AW16 Shopping List
A Heavy Duty Parka - I can't stress how essential this is. I'm one of those forever cold people. My last parka served me well but it needs retiring. My dream parka would be the Burberry Prorsum but my wallet is not that way inclined.
Over The Knee Boots - I'll admit this isn't exactly necessary but not very much in life is you know? I have some great knit dresses and leather skirts that are calling out for some over the knee action.
Long Sleeve Body - My silhouette tends to get lost in winter and long sleeve tees because of my boobs tend to give me a boxy look. A body on the other hand will skim my body, keeping me warm and not looking like a snowman.
Harness - This may seem like a frivolous fashion buy but hear me out. I am short and busty and once you put me in knitwear, I look like the marshmallow man. A harness will help me retain a little definition plus they are cool af.
